Greens Report – February 2016

By 2nd March 2016February 24th, 2017No Comments

Greens
The greens are presently in good condition and by in large have coped very well with all the rainfall we have had over the last few months . We will be solid tinning the greens in the next couple of weeks this helps to keep the surface dry and allows air into the soil profile .

1st Tee
The levelling and returfing of the 1st tee has now been fully completed . The tee was turfed last week (week beginning 22/2/16) and will now require a few weeks to mature before play can resume from it . I anticipate it will be back in play for the 1st medal in April although depending on the weather conditions over the next month we may have to use a tee mat for regular play for the 1st few weeks of the season .

Putting Green
The area of the putting green that had soil added last month will have grass seed sown on it in the next couple of weeks . As previously mentioned this area will remain G.U.R for most if not all of this season as it will take time a considerable period of time to allow the seed to mature into a putting surface that could sustain regular play.

Paths
The path at the 1st tee has now been fully completed and is in use . We have also returfed many worn areas at the start/end of the paths .

Bunkers at the 7th green
The faces of the 2 greenside bunkers at the 7th have become badly worn and are in desperate need of repair . The worn faces in each bunker will be rebuilt within the next week or so . During this time it will be necessary to make these bunkers G.U.R. . As soon as they have have been rebuilt they will immediately be put back into play.

Bunkers
Over the next month we will be topping up many bunkers around the course with new sand .

Winter greens
These areas are to be treated as ground under repair and are to be used for putting only.

Pitch marks
Could I ask that all golfers please repair their pitch marks . We are fixing dozens every morning by which time lasting damage to the putting surface has already occurred . Thank you
