Greens Report September 2016

By 12th October 2016February 24th, 2017No Comments

Greens
The greens are currently in very good condition and have recently had an application of fertiliser and will be verti cut and top dressed next week. Unfortunately as we head towards October essential maintenance has to be carried out in the coming weeks . Weather permitting we intend to start this work the week beginning Monday the 10th of October . All the greens will be Hollow cored , Scarified and top dressed as part of this maintenance This is for the long term benefit of the greens to maintain water and air flowing through the soil profile .
Tees
The course has been extremely busy all summer and as the weather starts to turn colder with shorter daylight hours the effects of this traffic is starting to show on some of the tees . Initially we are targeting the tees that are showing the greatest signs of wear and tear particularly the par 3’s and the shorter par 4’s where damage to teeing ground is much harsher . We will be hollow coring , scarifying , over seeding , top dressing and feeding all the tees in the next 2 to 3 weeks .
New Machines
We take delivery of a new Greens machine and rough cutting machine this Wednesday (28th of September) and have taken delivery of a new sprayer in the last couple of weeks . This will help greatly to maintain and improve the golf course appearance and playability and I would like to thank the committee for their support and finding the funds to make these purchases possible .
Winter Greens
The winter greens will be marked out this week and will shortly be solid tined , top dressed and have fertiliser applied to them to get them in the best possible condition for play . Once the greens are marked out they are to be considered Ground Under Repair and to be used for putting only .
