The Course

Designed by the famous Open Champion, James Braid.
Par: 70, Length in Yards: 6254, Course SSS: 70

Hole 1 – Carriage-way

Watch out for the two fairway bunkers on the right as they are hidden from the tee.

Hole 2 – Stables

Tempting tee shot. Only try to carry bunkers left if there is a strong following wind.

Hole 3 – Easter Yett

Important to hit the fairway off the tee. Wayward tee shot leaves tight shot to pin position on the left and right sides of green.

Hole 4 – Laurels

Must stay left off the tee. Anything right will block you out from the green.

Hole 5 – Orchard

Play safe off the tee. Take a club which will leave you short of the bushes on the right hand side of the fairway.

Hole 6 – Mary Wright

Take one club more. The hole is made shorter by bunkers in front of the green.

Hole 7 – Arthur’s Seat

Take on more club for second shot, due to the dip in front of the green.

Hole 8 – Suthren Yett

You must stay to the left side of fairway off the tee to open up the green with your second shot.

Hole 9 – Jimmy Braid

When into the wind play as a three shot hole. The closer you are to the green in two shots, the more difficult the pitch shot.

Hole 10 – Morrison’s Haven

You cannot afford to go left off the tee. Take one more club for your second shot.

Hole 11 – Pony Park

You must favour the right side of the fairway, watch out for the fairway bunker on the corner of the dog-leg.

Hole 12 – The Gap

You cannot go left off the tee. Take one more club for your second shot.

Hole 13 – Blink O’ Forth

You must aim on the gap in the trees for the best line off the tee. Longer hitters should aim slightly to the right.

Hole 14 – The Gully

You cannot be short or left of the green. Take enough club, the hole looks shorter than it really is.

Hole 15 – The Glebe

The hardest hole on the course. Favour the right side of the fairway off the tee. If you have a good score going, be happy to make five.

Hole 16 – Hole Across

Make sure you take plenty of club. The bunker short of the green makes the hole look shorter.

Hole 17 – Auld Reekie

The further right you hit it off the tee, the harder the second shot.

Hole 18 – Prestongrange

Make sure you do not go right off the tee. Take enough club to carry the dip in front of the green.
